Introduction

guidelines
8-HETE is a lipoxygenase-catalyzed metabolite of arachidonic acid. Lipoxygenase (LO) and cytochrome P450 monooxygenase products of arachidonic acid (AA) have been implicated in a large number of vasoregulatory processes. ex-vivo-perfused human lungs release 8-HETE into the vascular compartment in response to inflammatory challenge. 8-HETE is fatty acid metabolite known to activate the PPAR receptors. In the rat, 8-HETE is the key metabolite of arachidonic acid that regulates corneal epithelial cell migration during wound healing. (PMID: 10956057, 10852767, 10832716, 16137885)
