Butylene Glycol
DTT is also frequently used to modify the sulfide groups on proteins, for example in the SDS-PAGE procedure. DTT is a relatively unstable compound whose useful life can be extended by refrigeration and handling in an inert atmosphere. Tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine HCl or TCEP hydrochloride is a somewhat more stable reducing agent. -- Wikipedia
